SUPPORT THE CLUB DURING COVID-19 AND BEYOND!
by The Club at Collington Square

Youth and their families have a second home to learn, love, and be safe at The Club at Collington Square. Students see educational growth, parents gain the confidence to navigate parenthood, and The Club’s spirit of community unites people to build a stronger community in East Baltimore.
Despite the challenges of our East Baltimore neighborhood and the COVID-19 pandemic, The Club was able to finish the school year strong by serving 149 scholars! Five 9th-graders served as Classroom Coaches, ~48 scholars attended socially distanced learning sessions per week, ~100 scholars received remote learning instruction, increased restorative practice offerings to process trauma, and on average scholars’ attendance has improved and had a direct positive effect on their schoolwork. We are also celebrating our Choir Director, Teacher, and Club alum Adrian Phillips who recently graduated from high school and will follow the legacy of our staff by going to Morgan State University this Fall!
We continued to make sure every scholar was fed. Vince Cole, aka “Chef”, stood at the helm of our kitchen throughout the pandemic to serve over 3,600 hot meals to our scholars and their families. The Club has also distributed over 1,200 boxes of food to the community in partnership with the Johns Hopkins Office of Government and Community Affairs with food donations by Saval Foodservice and Hungry Harvest.
The Club is in need of your support now more than ever! We are in the midst of planning for summer and fall signature programs for scholars and their families to receive the support needed to thrive. Your donation will help us to provide our families with resources they need during the school year, continue our current work of serving the community during COVID-19, and plan for a successful summer program. I hope you will consider making a gift to The Club so we can continue to serve as a beacon of hope for families in East Baltimore.
You can make an impact to build young leaders that will change Baltimore’s future!
In good health,
Vanessa Williams
Director, The Club at Collington Square
